Stewart Baxter is a multi-disciplinary artist, composer, musician, and creative director based in Hull. Working under the alias BØMBED BUILDINGS, he creates immersive, site-responsive works that fuse tape loops, samples, and effected instruments into meditative soundscapes. His commissions include Resonance (Freedom Festival), Rooted (Sound & Music), MATKA (Piano Day Hull), SoundSpace (Outlands Network / DØTE), HØUSE (National Trust / Maister House), and an upcoming sound installation for in response to Cosey Fanny Tutti’s ‘Ingognito’ exhinbition at Humber Street Gallery in collaboration with the Working Class Creatives Database.
He is the founder of DØTE, a platform for experimental sound and interdisciplinary art, creating opportunities for underrepresented voices and grassroots artists. Alongside this, he runs Hinterland Creative, a studio and collective delivering national-level creative direction, film, and design projects while mentoring and upskilling local talent.
Stewart is also widely known as the drummer of critically acclaimed band LIFE, with international touring credits and multiple BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music accolades.
Raised working-class and identifying as neurodivergent, he has spent over 15 years building inclusive arts practice, including his role as Community Arts Development Manager at The Warren Youth Project. Across all his work, Baxter’s focus is on connection, collaboration, and breaking down barriers to creativity - establishing Hull as a fertile ground for immersive, experimental art.
